E.J. Ornelas' architectural experience started in 1961, the same year Eduardo enrolled in the College of Architecture at the University of Arizona, and as an apprentice with an architectural firm.
During his 13 years of employment in Tucson with PLACE & PLACE ARCHITECTS (1965-1978)
Eduardo gained valuable experience as project manager in projects such as;
- Pima County - Administration Building (11 stories), Health and Welfare Building (6 stories), Courts Building (9 stories).
- City of Tucson - Maintenance and Office Buildings.
- Tucson Electric Power - Administration and Public Service Buildings (2). (2 & 6 stories)
- University of Arizona - Administration Building (5 stories), Arts and Music Building (addition and remodel), McKale Field House (3 levels--includes 2 levels of office, classrooms and misc.).
- Tucson Federal Tower Building all aspects (21 stories bank and offices) as well as all of the Tucson Federal Savings and Loan Branches.
Since then Eduardo has administered a successful practice where he has exemplified his respect for nature and support of the community by teaching an architectural class at Pima Community College where he mentors young architects and designers to be, and as past president and active member of the Tucson Chapter of The Construction Specification Institute Eduardo continues to contribute to his profession and community on a continuing basis as he has throughout his life.
Handling recruitment, staffing, financing and marketing as well as oversees pre-design, design, production, bidding, construction administration, post construction services, studies reports and project analysis.
